We have been raising and showing our Newfoundlands for 14 years.   Before we breed any of our dogs, we have them certified on their hips, elbows and hearts.  We also test for cystinuria, which is only found in the Newfoundland breed, and our bloodline does not carry this inherited disease.  There are many Newfie breeders that you can contact.  Please be sure before you bring a new puppy into your life, that both parents have been certified and that you receive a copy of their certification.  The breeder should be more than happy to provide them to you.  We do not condone puppy mills or breeders that sell to pet stores.
