Kay - just an update on our girl.
We settled on the name Bella - not sure about her registered name as of yet but there is plenty of time for that.
She went to our vet today. I had to pass something along to you. Our vet has had several Newfies come through lately that were not healthy - heart murmers, hip issues, teeth issues. He said at the beginning of the exam that he would really love to see a healthy Newfie for a change ----Bella came through with flying colors. Her heart was great - hips looked wonderful (of course it is a little early) her teeth were perfect. She was so well behaved - was very sweet for the vet and very relaxed. She fell asleep on the exam room floor. He was able to clip her nails without any fuss whatsoever. The vet said that is the wonderful thing about Newfies, one of the most mellow, good natured breeds there is, but then you know that already.
I think you should know that your bloodlines at B&K are producing wonderful healthy puppies, healthier than at least 3 other breeders that our vet has seen recently.
Bella is having a blast - when we first got home she wasn't shy at all she started exploring right away - brave girl. She was a little quiet and missed her brothers and sisters.
Today she is keeping very busy and is playing a lot. She is making us laugh so much, what a wonderful Christmas present - it is great to have a four legged friend back in the family. She is simply adorable - we are all falling more in love with her every day.
Thank you for giving her such a great loving start to her life - we will definitely keep in touch and send updates.
We tried putting a Santa hat on her for picture today - we may need to try that when she is a little more tired. Will send a shot when we are able to take one.
Have the other pups been picked up yet and how is Tippy doing?
Have a very Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I love your web-site... I have a Newfy and she is very ill from a injury she sustained while chasing a cat under a parked truck. Gracie, (my Newfy's name) is 6 YOA and very fun to have around. So I owe her this time to help and assist her in getting better. However, my vet says her chance of recovery from this type of injury is minimal at best. She has a blood clot in her spinal cord creating paralysis in her rear end and so I feel compelled to share this story with you;
When she was a puppy, I trained her to fetch my slippers. For six years now, Gracie has faithfully retrieved my slippers each day when I return home from work. She can also turn on lights (touch lamps) to provide guidance for me in the morning and at night. When she was 3 years old, my niece was swimming in the pool and she slipped in to the deep end which was over her head. Before I could strip off my clothes and dive in to get my niece out of the pool, Gracie jumped the 60" fenced yard, dove in to the pool and brought Julia to safety using the shoulder portion of her bathing suit to gently tug her back to the pool stairs. I did not teach Gracie such bravery, she learned this through the love and affection this family shares with her every day. I love my Gracie Girl and I pray for her full recovery, and I thought it as important to share with you and your family the enjoyment of having a Newfy that is so easily trained to guide a person through life. I have learned more about unconditional love from my Gracie Girl, than in the 44 years I have lived so far. God bless you and your family during these Holidays and be safe... You are needed in this community to bring one of God's favorite breeds to us responsibly.
Sincerely,
Dawn K. Doyle

You know you're owned by a newf when drool on the ceiling fan (which is directly over your head) is no longer even importat enough to move from where you are sitting.
You know you're owned y a newf when you've seriously contemplated several money making businesses you could open and each idea contains using newfie fur in some way.
You know you're owned by a newf when you've actually spent more money on his bed than your own. And I actually think his is more comfortable. (mine's definately cleaner though)

You know you are owned by your newf when your next car purchase is based on how many newfs, crates, water work and draft equipment it will hold.

You don't leave home without a towel in your back pocket!
You know you are owned by a Newf when you are pushed out of bed by them!
