GracieI love your web-site... I have a Newfy and she is very ill from a injury she sustained while chasing a cat under a parked truck. Gracie, (my Newfy's name) is 6 YOA and very fun to have around. So I owe her this time to help and assist her in getting better. However, my vet says her chance of recovery from this type of injury is minimal at best. She has a blood clot in her spinal cord creating paralysis in her rear end and so I feel compelled to share this story with you; When she was a puppy, I trained her to fetch my slippers. For six years now, Gracie has faithfully retrieved my slippers each day when I return home from work. She can also turn on lights (touch lamps) to provide guidance for me in the morning and at night. When she was 3 years old, my niece was swimming in the pool and she slipped in to the deep end which was over her head. Before I could strip off my clothes and dive in to get my niece out of the pool, Gracie jumped the 60" fenced yard, dove in to the pool and brought Julia to safety using the shoulder portion of her bathing suit to gently tug her back to the pool stairs. I did not teach Gracie such bravery, she learned this through the love and affection this family shares with her every day. I love my Gracie Girl and I pray for her full recovery, and I thought it as important to share with you and your family the enjoyment of having a Newfy that is so easily trained to guide a person through life. I have learned more about unconditional love from my Gracie Girl, than in the 44 years I have lived so far. God bless you and your family during these Holidays and be safe... You are needed in this community to bring one of God's favorite breeds to us responsibly. Sincerely, Dawn K. Doyle Leave Comment: |
